NEWPORT - AVTECH Software last week announced plans to buy and renovate a 140-year-old former mill in Warren, which will become the software developer's headquarters by March.
The Cutler Mill, built in 1868 for the Cutler Manufacturing Company and later given an addition, is a 48,960-square-foot brick building on 2.13 acres at the intersection of Child and Cutler streets.
Now, the mill houses several small businesses, including the East Bay Chamber of Commerce, Basically British Tea Room and Imago Art Gallery. AVTECH said it plans "to keep as many tenants as possible and will use all currently open space within the mill building." Initially, AVTECH will occupy space recently vacated by East Bay Fitness and a karate studio, the company said.
Founded in 1988 in Newport Beach, Calif., AVTECH relocated to Newport in 1993.
