A system running Windows XP Professional or Windows Server 2003 can be configued as a Time Server in the event that access to the Internet is not allowed and a time server is not located on the network. Once configured, this system can be used by a Room Alert or TemPageR product to obtain and update the date and time.

To configure a Windows XP Professional or Windows Server 2003 machine as a time source for devices on the network, make the following Registry changes in the Windows Registry:
Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters\NtpServer Value: List of IP addresses or DNS names, seperated by a space, of NTP servers that the Windows XP Pro or 2003 Server can synchronize with.
Warning: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the Registry at your own risk.
